The 2ndXI were unable to reproduce the form of last week as they slid to a 46 runs defeat at East Bierley.
A true blend of the cliched Youth and Experience performed adequately in the field, with wickets equitably distributed and despite struggling on a pitch that always gave bowlers opportunity, looked set to make a game of it when requiring 100 with 16 overs and7 wickets left.
Upon the Burton family's demise (Captain Rob, followed by son Tom after his maiden Lightcliffe 50) the visitors flattered to deceive and ended up comfortably short.
The game completed with a somewhat bizarre run out of 11th man Wes Brookes, who comfortably "home" having completed on a second run with Mick Wood (with another enjoyabe 19 runs boudary-fest), was as bemused as all on the ground when adjudged out. Clearly the umpire had a bus to catch..
Only an unique set of results will allow Lightcliffe to finish top of the West Section and progress to the Play-Off Final, meaning this shortened cameo of a season has just 2 games to go.
