Two close games but LCC end up on the wrong end of the results

With a short season and no cup competitions to play for, the u13's have 2 Thursday u13 teams entered into the Halifax mini leagues.

With selection of players mixed roughly equally between the two teams, and numerous opportunities for younger u10's and u11's in both of them, the LCC sides came up short against two of the stronger opponents in the Halifax area.

Both Lightcliffe teams batted first and posted first innings scores in the 70's - 15 under par realistically speaking. With only 5 wickets lost between the two teams this huge positive points to the fact that (a) we have some technically correct players who know how to play straight and don't give their wickets away easily (b) we have the potential to shift up a gear in the later stages of an innings, taking a few more risks in the last 5 overs. To their credit the younger of the two sides took their game into the final over.

Results this season though are largely immaterial as we try and squeeze as many opportunities for the large number of keen players that the club are blessed with into a crammed 6 or 7 week programme of fixtures.

Performances of note across the 2 matches

George Leach - 26 retired
Dylan Crossley - 23*
Oliver Barrowcliffe - 2 for 2
