UPDATE THURSDAY 11TH MAY - 1330HRS
Better news for our friends from Brighouse who now look likely to complete their fixtures in this, their 150th anniversary season.
The below is taken directly from the Gordon Rigg Bradford Premier League website:
"Brighouse CC have confirmed that they will begin their season this weekend and play their remaining 2023 fixtures. The impasse between club officials and the players was resolved after extensive mediation on Wednesday evening when an agreement between the two parties was secured.
It means that Brighouse’s first team will entertain Scholes in Division Three on Saturday while their second team will be away to Undercliffe.
League chairman Bill Holmes said: “I am delighted that the dispute has been resolved and we can all now move forward. Much time and effort has been devoted to reaching a resolution and I thank everybody who has played a part particularly Nasa Hussain , the League’s EDI Officer , who has been integral to the parties reaching a satisfactory outcome to this dispute.
“I look to everybody at Brighouse to now work together harmoniously, for the mutual benefit of all parties. The Management Board will be monitoring the progress being made and will act if the commitments given by club officials and players are not honoured over the course of the season.
“I urge the league community to be understanding of what has happened at Brighouse over the past two weeks and support the club as it strives to put its troubles behind it.”

BELOW ARTICLE POSTED SATURDAY 6TH MAY AT 0034HRS
The Management Board of the Gordon Rigg Bradford Premier League have released the following statement on Friday evening about the concerning events surrounding our near neighbours Brighouse Cricket Club:
"In order to clarify the current status of Brighouse Cricket Club and to correct misleading comments and speculation on social media, the league has released the following statement.
Brighouse have not resigned from the league. Its officials confirmed late last week that their games last weekend had been forfeited and subsequently informed the league that they will be forfeiting both games on May 6th. This was despite strenuous attempts by the league to resolve the current impasse during which club officials reiterated their intention to forfeit all future games this season.
This is clearly an unacceptable and unsustainable situation that cannot be allowed to continue. The Management Board will consider all the available options when it convenes next week.
In the meantime, the league is continuing its efforts to achieve a resolution that will see the resumption of cricket at Brighouse.
The Management Board sympathises with all the clubs affected by the internal dispute at Brighouse and will not be making any further statement until after its meeting next week."
Lightcliffe Cricket Club would like to wish Russell Livesey and Eric Charlesworth well in their fight to keep cricket played on their magnificent ground at Brighouse Sports Club. The links between the two clubs are strong as the following exemplifies:
Bob Horne left Lightcliffe to captain Brighouse 1st XI and latterly was LCC Chairman until earlier this year.
John Leach, father of current LCC Chairman Richard, was the Chairman of Brighouse CC when they left Clifton Road to move along Bradford Road.
Mark Horne kept wicket with distinction for the 1st XIs of both clubs.
Current LCC Treasurer Richard Thompson was a Brighouse junior and senior playing member for a couple of decades before becoming a “Villager.”
Former Lightcliffe 1st XI skipper Paul Ramsden commenced playing cricket at Brighouse as a junior.
We would like to make all Lightcliffe members aware that we have spoken to both Brighouse CC acting Chairman Russell Livesey and Secretary Eric Charlesworth to offer any support we can during this difficult period for them in what is their 150th anniversary year.
